Gopal Ponangi serves on the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees, Place 1. He is an 18-year resident of Frisco. He is a very active member of the community leading several initiatives through nonprofits with a primary focus on Education. Gopal is seeking re-election to the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees for a second term. Election Day is May 7th, 2022.
Message from Gopal:
Frisco ISD has been one of the fastest growing school districts in our great State of Texas. I have been a part of managing the growth from 60,000 students to over 65,000 students during my time on the board. Families from all over the country and sometimes the world have chosen our district as home for our excellent schools and the opportunities and resources we provide.
Education is my passion and I will strive to give my best to our students and the community. Students, teachers, and staff have been at the center of every decision that I have made and will continue to be. During this term, our board had to make very challenging decisions never faced by public education before due to the pandemic. We were nimble and provided the resources needed to keep our children learning and our teachers and staff employed. We pivoted as a district during the onset of pandemic, by proactively providing virtual education for all of our students. I have worked diligently to help increase opportunities for students like Cricket, the National Navy Defense Cadet Corp., expanded AP courses and dual enrollment offerings with local universities. I will continue to focus on Covid recovery, offering more opportunities for our students with focus on their future readiness; ensure the well being of our Teachers & Staff and fiscal responsibility towards tax dollars.
As I embark on this journey for my re-election, I thank each and everyone of you for giving me this opportunity to serve our community and seek your support during this race. I will work hard to ensure we continue on this trajectory of excellence in education by providing incredible opportunities for our next generation.
